How do I log meals with voice—tips for accuracy?

Voice logging shines when you speak in short, concrete meal chunks and add quantities whenever you can.

Phrasing that parses reliably

Speak in simple meal chunks: “grilled chicken breast, rice, broccoli, olive oil.” Add quantities when you can (“200g chicken”, “one tablespoon butter”). Brands matter when calories swing a lot—mention them if it helps.

  • Good: “two eggs, sourdough toast, butter, black coffee.”
  • Better: “two fried eggs, one slice sourdough, one teaspoon butter, black coffee.”
  • Useful for restaurants: “chicken burrito bowl, rice, beans, cheese, sour cream, ate about three quarters.”

Corrections beat perfection

If something parses oddly, correct it once. Corrections train your habit more than chasing a perfect first attempt every time.

Voice food logging works best when you treat it like leaving yourself a clear note. Say the food, the amount, and anything that changes calories—oil, dressing, sauce, cheese, alcohol, dessert, or whether you ate half.
