Why does my weight fluctuate day to day?

Daily weight changes are normal. Scale weight reflects body fat plus water, food volume, glycogen, salt, digestion, training inflammation, stress, sleep, travel, and hormonal changes—not just fat gain or fat loss.

Common reasons the scale jumps

  • A salty restaurant meal or higher-carb day can increase water weight temporarily.
  • Hard workouts can cause short-term inflammation and water retention.
  • Digestion and food volume affect what is physically in your body.
  • Poor sleep, stress, travel, and menstrual cycle changes can move weight independent of fat change.

What to watch instead
